Here are some tips which you might find helpful when playing Counter Strike: Source to improve you getting more kills and enjoying the game more.

Tip One.

Make sure you know the keystrokes for buying items when the round starts, or bind keys to help purchase weapons quicker.  The quicker you get your weapons the quicker you move from a stationary position.

Binding keys is an easy way to access any in-game command with a single key or button press. You can use the in-game console to create binds.

The command which you need to type in the console (~)  to bind a command to a particular key is

bind “i” “buy deagle”

When a new round starts all you do is hit the letter “i” this will purchase a desert eagle pistol.

If you want to bind one key with multiple commands you can. Make sure you separate the next item with a semicolon (;)

bind “o” “buy deagle; buy hegrenade”

Now once you press the “o” this will purchase a Desert Eagle pistol and a Grenade.

Tip Two

Always buy a Kevlar vest and Helmet or at least a Kevlar vest if you have the money.  This will provide a bit better protection than having no armour at all. Practise with different guns, and learn how to use them, each weapon has a different feel, weight, ammunition capacity and price.

The main weapons I find the best to use are the Desert Eagle (Pistol), MP5 Navy (Submachine gun), Pump Action Shotgun, M16 Colt (Assault Rifle), Grenades and Flash bangs. I buy these according to how much money I have.

Tip Three

When throwing flash bangs try not to flash members of your team, this gives a huge advantage to the other team to kill most of your team mates off. Before you even think of throwing a flash bang use the radar on the top left hand corner, if it all clear then thrown the flash bang.

Tip Four

Learn the different maps people play on. The two main maps is cs_office and dust2, learning the maps will help you navigate while paying and help you get the hostages or defuse a bomb quicker. By knowing the map well it will help you know where players are camping, where they would normally rush or if you are flashed you can move to cover while you recover. You can create your own server with bots, this is useful way to practise with different weapons and learning the maps.

Tip Five

Remember to have fun when playing counter strike: source or any game for that matter it’s a game and it’s to be enjoyed and not to be taken too seriously and there’s nothing more enjoyable then killing a terrorist with a nice headshot.
